The Good Noise Christmas Tradition Returns!

Good Noise Vancouver Gospel Choir has returned to in-person rehearsals, and is excited to be working towards live concerts in December. It has been over a year and a half since the choir was together in person, and the joy of being in the same space, singing together, seeing each other, hearing the glorious sound of many voices singing in harmony has brought tears of joy, smiles (under our masks), and a sense that step by step and bit by bit, we can safely return to what we love to do, which is to sing together, and to share it with our beloved audiences.

What Will Concerts Look Like?

Of course, we are not completely back to “normal”. There are still public health orders in place, and Good Noise will be complying with them all. In fact, if we can add layers of protection and safety over and above what the health orders require (which we have done in rehearsal), we will do so. We as a choir and arts organization want to be diligent when it comes to safety as we find our way back to live concerts.

      • All audience members (in addition to choir members, band members and front of house volunteers) must be fully vaccinated and provide proof of vaccination upon arrival at the Cathedral.
      • Masking will be required.
      • Distancing will be in place. For concerts and events, 50% capacity is the limit, and at the Cathedral, this includes factoring the number of performers into the 50% limit. This means ticket availability will be significantly less than pre-covid live concerts.
      • No intermission for concerts. This will reduce the “mixing and mingling” that often takes place during intermissions and prevent additional contact among members of the audience.

We hope that with these safety considerations, the joy of being back together and sharing the same space will bring with it that special spirit of Christmas that is so meaningful. The Cathedral will be filled with the sound of voices and instruments, and with many “smiling eyes”.

We have missed you! We so very much want to see you again in person, and are hoping that our goal of prioritizing the health and safety of both our audience and the choir and musicians, will make a concert with Good Noise an attractive option for you this Christmas season.
